I Never Told Anyone (2017)

In this series, I  photographed fruits to speak about sexual abuse and assault. Each fruit photographed resembles that of female genetalia and are smashed, beaten, mutilated, squeezed, assaulted and defiled to depict violence. Each image has its own title derived  from quotes taken from a book titled I Never Told Anyone. The title is used to give context to the images as it serves as a verbal representation of the subject matter.

Through my undergraduate, I work with issues revolving around abuse and violence on to women. For my BFA show, I touched on issues of sexual abuse. However, the project was complex and I chose to not be as vocal about it as it is an issue that personally affects me. In the past, I have also used fruits to represent the female genetalia in for different projects. I chose to combine the two as a a means to speak on the subject with ease and and to bring light to the issue. The series also serves as therauputic means.
